Pursuit Advocacy Welcomes Veteran Pennsylvania Senate Strategist Gregory M. Mahon as Government Affairs Specialist Mahon brings 33 years of state government experience, including more than two decades of senior Senate leadership service, to the firm’s growing team HARRISBURG, PA – Pursuit Advocacy, a leading Pennsylvania state government affairs firm, today announced that Gregory M. Mahon has joined the firm as a Government Affairs Specialist. Mahon arrives at Pursuit following a distinguished 33-year career in Pennsylvania state government, including 23 years of service in the Senate of Pennsylvania, where he most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Budget and Finance to Senator Kim L. Ward, President Pro Tempore of the Senate. Throughout his tenure in the Senate, Mahon served in senior roles at the highest levels of legislative leadership. From 2023 to 2026, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Budget and Finance to Senator Ward during her service as President Pro Tempore -- having previously held the same position during her tenure as Majority Leader from 2021 to 2022. Prior to his work with Senator Ward, Mahon served for a decade under former President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, rising from Director of Budget and Policy to Chief of Staff. In that capacity, he managed Senator Scarnati’s office operations, oversaw legislative priorities, directed budget initiatives for the Majority Republican Caucus, and played a lead role in the annual negotiations and drafting of the Fiscal Code, Administrative Code, and Human Services Code. Mahon’s Senate career also included service as a Legislative Assistant and Committee Director under former Senator John Pippy and as a Legislative Assistant to former Majority Leader Chip Brightbill. Before joining the Senate, he served as Director of Legislative Affairs at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection during the administration of Governor Tom Ridge, where he managed the department’s legislative agenda and stakeholder engagement. In total, Mahon’s career spans senior roles across two branches of state government and service under some of Pennsylvania’s most consequential elected leaders. “Greg Mahon’s experiences make him one of the most respected and knowledgeable people in Pennsylvania state government currently. He has been active in his community as a Trustee of the Northern Pennsylvania Regional College, Chairman of the Lower Allen Township Recreation and Parks Board, and co-founder of the Cedar Cliff Youth Softball Association. He resides in Camp Hill with his family.
